Nations FC head coach, Stephen Frimpong Manso, has remained tight-lipped about his future following the club’s remarkable season, which saw them qualify for continental football after winning the MTN FA Cup despite suffering relegation from the league.
Speaking in an interview with Akwasi Atta Twum Barima, host of a Sunyani based Sompa FM premier sports, Mr Frimpong Manso said it was too early to discuss some of the incidents that occurred during the season, including issues involving supporters.
“It is too early to talk about some of the incidents that happened. Some of the things you won’t understand, and the fans’ behaviour towards me happens almost in every team, so let’s leave it for now,” he said.
The coach indicated that the club’s immediate focus is on preparations for their upcoming CAF campaign and their future in domestic football, with key decisions expected after internal discussions.
“For now, we’re going to plan about Africa and the league. Aside from that, we have no plans until we have our meeting,” he added.
Reflecting on the just-ended campaign, Frimpong Manso described the competition as highly challenging, noting that several clubs were affected by circumstances beyond their control.
“It was competitive, but some of the teams suffered after Hohoe withdrew from the league, and the cash prize wasn’t the only factor making the league really tough,” he stated.
Nations FC’s FA Cup success has secured the club a place in next season’s CAF inter-club competition, offering a silver lining to a campaign that also ended in relegation.
The achievement marks a historic milestone for the club and presents a new challenge as management and the technical team prepare for continental football.
