A number of teachers have reacted towards the recent mass failure of the teachers’ licensure exams. Given a segment on Sompa FM’s Ade Akye Abia, some teachers called to vent the possible reasons behind the unprecedented disaster.
A female caller who partook in the just ended exams divulged that the canker stems from lack of preparation and possible misunderstanding of the given questions. She revealed that she passed hers after 6 failed attempts.
Another caller mentioned that the distance learning students failed more in this edition because of their inability to juggle their current jobs and studies.
“Some teachers are very lazy” someone blurted. “They’d rather bribe their way to success than study and work hard for it.” he added.
“Sometimes it just happens, you’ll prepare well for an exam but when the results are released, you have failed. You just cannot comprehend why” a female teacher shared her experience.
According to reports gathered by Sompa FM, 6,481 teachers out of 7,728 who sat for last year’s Ghana Teacher Licensure Exams failed woefully. The Registrar of Ghana Teacher Licensure Exams, Dr. Christian Addae Poku hinted that the exams which comprised of numeracy, social psychology and literacy were easier to tackle than WASSCE. He warned persons who have failed after ten (10) attempts to venture into different professions for their own good.
