Dr Osei Kuffour Afreh, the Bono Regional Director of Health has expressed concern about the alarming spread of new infections of HIV in the region.
He said 1,853 new infections were recorded in the region in 2025, worrying that HIV infections were rife among people between 20 years and 28 years.
Speaking to Ama Konadu on the Tuesday Edition of the Sunyani-based Sompa FM “Adea Akyea Abia” Morning show, Dr Afreh said sexual intercourse representing about 80 percent remained the major spread of HIV and AIDS with Mother to Child spread hovering around 20 percent.
Dr Afreh cautioned the youth against premarital and unhealthy sexual behaviours that highly exposed them to HIV and AIDS.
