Scores of residents in the Sunyani Municipality and beyond, at the weekend thronged the Sunyani Coronation Park, as Teraone media, operators of Sompa FM holds the maiden Sompa Health Clinic.
As at 0530 hours the expectant residents including the aged, adolecent boys and girls, women groups and petty traders had arrived the park to check and know their various health conditions.
They were sighted in long queues, waiting patiently for the medical team to commence the day's free health screening exercise.
Beneficiaries are expected to check and know their body mass index, blood and sugar levels and other health conditions.
The event would also create opportunity for the more than 500 beneficiaries with various dental problems to access mediation.
As at the time of filing this report, health workers and medical officers from the 21st Clinic, Heaven Laboratories Services (HLAB), St Ignatius Eye Center, Genjimed Dental Clinic and E and T Specialist were setting up for the exercise.
Speaking in an interview with Sompa FM online, the residents said they were highly delighted to participate in the free health screening and commended the Teraone media for the exercise.
"Sompa FM just started operations in Sunyani, but your innovations outshines many others", says Alhaji Allahbei Kwana, the Bono Regional Treasurer on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
"These long queues here are indications that the Sunyani people have accepted your operations and we are hopeful that your station remain innovative to meet the demand of your listeners", Madam Leticia Apnosah Gyan, a petty trader indicated.
Later in an interview, Mr Yaw Aboagye Boadi, the General Manager of Sompa FM said he was really surprised about the huge participation but added "We are ready to serve everybody".
Aside entertainment and education, Mr. Boadi said Sompa FM was determined to ensure that listeners get the best of other services, saying "as our corporate social responsibility demands, we will try as much as possible to help improve on the health status of our cherished listeners".
Nana Kwasi Bredu Antwi Berko, the Chief Exectutive Officer of HLAB, the lead partner of the event, assured the health workers would do their best to attend to all the participants.
He therefore advised the health workers to remain patient with the beneficiaries and provide them quality healthcare services.
