‘My First Day at School’: Ofori Boateng Donates Exercise Books to Asaago Basic School Pupils

Mr. Ofori Boateng Samuel, a renowned journalist with the Wontumi multimedia, has donated exercise books to pupils of Asaago Basic School in the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipality as part of the “My First Day at School” initiative.

The gesture formed part of efforts to support pupils and promote access to quality education, particularly among children in underserved communities.

Speaking during the presentation, Ofori Boateng Samuel underscored the importance of collective responsibility in improving education and called on individuals, organisations and community members to complement the government's efforts to provide quality education for children across the country.

He said education remained a shared responsibility and encouraged well-meaning Ghanaians to contribute, in diverse ways, towards creating a conducive learning environment for children.

Mr. Ofori Boateng Samuel also appealed to parents to prioritise the education and welfare of their children and ensure that available resources were used to support their academic development.

According to him, investing in children's education was essential to securing a brighter future for both the children and the country.

The Assembly Member for the Ampayoo-Asaago Electoral Area, Hon. Nelson Boakye Yiadom, who is also a teacher at Asaago Basic School, expressed concern about inadequate classroom accommodation at the school.

He said the increasing number of pupils had exceeded the capacity of the available classroom blocks, creating challenges for effective teaching and learning.

Hon. Nelson Boakye Yiadom therefore appealed to the government, benevolent individuals and organisations to support the school with additional classroom facilities to help improve the learning environment.

He further noted that the school lacked a fence wall, a situation he said had allowed some residents to enter the school compound and dump refuse.

According to him, the practice had contributed to an unhealthy environment, which could negatively affect teaching and learning.

The Unit Committee Chairman for the Ampayoo-Asaago Electoral Area, Hon. Asamoah Kusi, also raised concerns about the absence of a fence wall around the school.

He called on the government, corporate organisations and philanthropists to support the school with the needed infrastructure to ensure a safe and conducive environment for pupils and teachers.

Some of the pupils who received the exercise books expressed their gratitude to Mr. Ofori Boateng for the kind gesture.

They said the donation would support their academic work and pledged to study hard to justify the investment made in their education.

The pupils also thanked Mr. Boateng for remembering them through the “My First Day at School” initiative and appealed to other individuals and organisations to support the development of their school.

The donation was warmly received by teachers, community leaders and pupils, who described the gesture as a timely contribution towards supporting education in the Asaago community.
