Deputy Ahafo Chief Imam advocates reintroduction of criminal libel law

The Deputy Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Unus Ahmed Mohammed has called for the reintroduction of the criminal libel law to curb insults and abusive language in the nation's media space.

He has blamed political leaders for contributing to the growing trend of media abuse, warning that their conduct and utterances influenced the behaviour of their supporters and the general public.

The Ahafo Regional Deputy Chief Imam is urging political leaders to lead by example and demonstrate respect in their public engagements.

In another interview, Sunyani Central District Head of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Stephen Denkyi Asante shared similar sentiments urging faith-based organisations to collaborate their quota towards tackling the challenge.
