Our Heritage Must be a Foundation Upon which Our Children's Future is Built- Kwamankese Chief Implore Fellow Traditional Leaders

Paramount chief of the Kwamankese Traditional Area in the Central Region, Okakaben Idun Andoh X, has called on fellow traditional leaders to preserve the cultural heritage of their communities and use it as a foundation for building a better future for the next generation.

Speaking on behalf of the Paramount chief of the Kwamankese Traditional Area, Gyaasehene for the Traditional Area, Nana Kwesi Baata Abekah VIII said the preservation of the community’s heritage must go hand in hand with development.

He made the remarks at the grand durbar of this year’s Akwambo-Kese Festival, held under the theme, “Our Heritage, Our Future.”

Nana Kwesi Baata Abekah VIII identified good roads, quality education and adequate electricity supply as some of the key development priorities of the traditional area.

According to him, these priorities form part of the vision behind the celebration of the annual Akwambo-Kese Festival, which seeks to unite the people and promote development of the area.

Meanwhile, the Benkumhene of the Kwamankese Traditional Area, Nana Nyarko Adu Nyamekye VIII, appealed to corporate organisations to partner with traditional authorities to help prioritise the health of the area by eradicating all forms of social vices such as smoking, cocaine addiction, teenage pregnancy among many others.

He stressed the need for stronger collaboration between traditional leaders, businesses and other stakeholders to create opportunities and interventions that would keep young people away from social vices.

He urged residents and stakeholders to support government and its officials in their efforts to promote development within the district.

Hon. Wardy said collective support and cooperation from the people would be necessary to ensure that development initiatives achieve their intended purpose.
