The Pig Farmers Association of Ghana is crying foul on the decision of the government to import pigs to the country from the United States.
Kwame Appiah Dankwah is the Pig Famers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and shares with Sompa Tv his thought on the importation of pigs.
“It will be very worrying to import swine into the country because, over the years, we have passed through difficulties feeding the country with pork irrespective of the high prices of feeding cost and production, we only increase our prices to meet the high cost of production, I don't see the need for government to import pigs whiles we have enough to feed the people”.
He explains that the intention of the government to import pigs tends to collapse pig processing factories and the pigs association.
“you see the problem here is, this initiative will collapse our business, the association, and even pig processing factories, and that is why we don't agree with the government, the rearing for food and job has started production so why this” we are crying of the dollar and now this if it's about the quantity, we can have negotiation and produce enough that can even be exported than importing” he concluded
