Terrone media, operators of Sompa Fm and Tv, earlier today presented assorted items worth Thousands of cedis to widows, widowers, and orphans on Thursday, December 22nd, 2022 in Kumasi and its environs.
The annual event dubbed ‘Sompa foundation’ formed part of the station’s humanitarian gestures to widows and orphans in the community to put smiles on their faces during the Christmas festivities.
All widows and orphans converged at the forecourt of the station to receive their freebies.
The items donated to the over 1000 widows and orphans included bags of rice, cooking oil, assorted drinks, Tin tomatoes, and many others.
A couple of the widows who could not hide their excitement over the kind gesture done them and heaped lots of thanks and blessings on the radio station for putting smiles on their faces during this festive season.
“I must say I’m pleasantly surprised by Sompa FM, the station has really made me happy. This is the period during which I would have remembered my husband dearly as he would have bought myself and the children a lot of gift and make our Christmas celebration very fun. Sompa FM has done exactly that for me and my children. God richly bless you.” A widow said in joy.
Another widow noted, “had it not been Sompa FM, I just didn’t know how I was going to celebrate this Christmas, I’ve been given cooking oil to cook food, and rice, and tomato, what else could I have asked for? May the Almighty look at what you’ve done for us and reward you bountifully.”
The Chief General Manager for the Teraone media, Collins Amo Poku advised the widows to eschew sorrow and bitterness resulting from the loss of their spouses and think about how to continue with their lives as well as take care of their children and families.
The coordinator for the event, Alvin Yaw Adu Boakye, popularly referred to as Omanhene said the station would undertake such presentations every year, and appealed to families to avoid the habit of maltreating widows and widowers and rather give them moral, financial, and other forms of support to enable them to live comforttably.
He called on corporate bodies, religious groups, non-governmental organizations and philanthropists to complement the station’s effort at providing the needs of the people since the station alone could not provide all the needs of society.
Sompa Fm expressed its gratitude to individuals and organizations for their support of the event.
