Ghanaian musician and songwriter, Kwame Nsia Apau with the stage name, Okyeame Kwame has called on the youth of Ghana to step out of their comfort zones and become more useful to themselves and their nation.
In a virtual interview with the Ghana Universities Journal, the master's degree holder in Strategic Marketing expressed concern that the Ghanaian youth lacked the creative force needed to solve the pressing problems facing the entertainment industry in Ghana.
During the 3.30-hour interview with the Journal, Okyeame Kwame stressed the importance of self-financing in the startup business.
He pointed out that it was impossible to hold expensive gadgets like phones while lacking the funds to start a business.
He urged the youth to rely on themselves first before seeking help from friends and family.
The renowned musician also highlighted the numerous challenges facing the entertainment industry and the need for critical thinkers to find solutions to these problems.
He encouraged the youth to explore the opportunities in the industry and take advantage.
“Why must you sit at home with a degree in communication while you can create a blog and become an art writer” The industry lacks sound engineers, they are few, why don’t you take advantage, everyone wants to be in the center stage so that they can enjoy the fame while you could have become production manager, social media or a digital marketer and earn money”, he suggested.
The Ghana Universities Journal is a group of tertiary students who have come together on social media platforms to engage industry players, stakeholders, and government officials. The group offers constructive criticism and solutions to impact the generation positively.
Okyeame Kwame’s call to action is a wake-up call for the youth of Ghana to take advantage of the opportunities available to them and become productive members of society.
“With the right mindset and determination, the youth can make a significant impact in the entertainment industry and beyond,” he said.
