Ghanaian rapper OJ Blaq has sadly kicked the bucket at the age of 40. Even though the real cause of his death is unknown, he has been battling a kidney disease for years.
OJ Blaq with real name Andy Nii Akrashie, was born in Accra, Ghana where he started his music career.
He released his debut album, “The Blaq Mixtape”, in 2006 and went on to release several more albums and singles, including his hit song “Chalewote”.
The news of his death was confirmed by his colleague artist, Captain Planet on his Twitter page.
OJ Blaq’s unique rapping style made him famous. Aside rapping, he was also a good actor who appeared in several Ghanaian films and television series.
Recall that sometime in 2021, OJ Blaq was diagnosed with kidney disease. He underwent dialysis treatment and was awaiting a kidney transplant. However, he passed away on August 17, 2023.
The loss of OJ Blaq to death is tragic for Ghana’s entertainment and music sector. He was a well-known character and a gifted artist. People will be inspired by and entertained by his music for a very long time.
