The Bible Society of Ghana says the cost of Bible production is high, and as such Bible prices are to be increased today.
In an exclusive interview with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Coffie disclosed that the cost of production is now high for them and they have no option but to increase the price of Bible.
He said they can’t rely on the old price to do proper production for retailers and the world at large.
“Translation of the Bible takes between 10 to 15 years; a cost of production for the normal Bible size is 20 dollars and was sold for 55 cedis with 15 percent discount to distributors.
According to him, they have relied on the support of cooperate societies and churches over the years for their production, however, the current hardship demands an increase in price to help subsidize the cost of production.
He assured the general public not to worry about overpriced tag.
“This is not new, but as non-profit organization, we can’t overpriced it, it was important we communicate to the general public because of the digital world, he concluded.
