The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) have issued a 72-hour ultimatum for the immediate dismissal of Ashanti Region National Service Scheme (NSS) Director Opoku Mensah.

The seemingly angry nurses are threatening to withdraw their services at the Manhyia District Hospital if the 72-hour ultimatum expires without dismissing Mr. Opoku Mensah.

The issue is premised on an audio recording emanated from Manhyia District Hospital in the Ashanti Region in which a male voice purported to be that of the Ashanti Region NSS director; Mr. Opoku Mensah known as Omens is heard raining insults on a nurse.

The angry NSS Ashanti Regional boss used unprinted and vulgar words against the said nurse; calling her imbecile, nonentity, etc

The issue has been aggravated and has received widespread crirticism due to the kind of insult rained on the nurse.

Speaking on Sompa FM‘s current affairs and socio-political show, Ade Akye Bia Tuesday, November 29,  with Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for GRNMA, Jones Afriyie Anto said “it is rather unfortunate that a whole regional director of National Service Scheme can rain insults on a nurse and for that matter all nurses in Ghana. We are calling for the immediate dismissal of the director else we will withdraw all our services from the Manhyia District Hospital”.

The GRNMA has since issued a press release to press home their demand.

Meanwhile

The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mr. Opoku Mensah is reported to have stormed Manhyia Hospital to insult a nurse on duty over her daughter being invited to complete a procedure she undertook as a House Officer.

It is unclear what provoked the insults but an audio recording available to sompa fm captures an enraged Regional Director running down the nurse while suggesting that she comes nowhere close to his daughter who is a House Officer

The source gathers the daughter of the NSS Boss had earlier done a procedure on a patient but there were some complications and was invited over.

She in turn invited her father who took offense and stormed the facility in anger.
