The Ghana Medical Association president, Dr. Frank Serebour has waved to the defense of a junior doctor at the Manhyia government hospital after the Ashanti Regional National Service Scheme Boss and father to the junior doctor, Alex Opoku Mensah verbally abused a nurse at the said hospital for calling the junior doctor to rectify an alleged error she made in the course of discharging her duty.
Reacting to the bizarre incident, Dr. Frank Serebour said, under no circumstances will he agree to the insult rained on the nurse by the father of Doctor Elsie, however, he could not understand why the nurse must call a doctor who has closed from work while there's a doctor on duty.
“The doctor has closed from work and was with the father at church, there's a doctor on duty at the time the nurse called the off-duty doctor, why would she do that, they always bully the junior doctors,” he retorted.
Mr. Serebour also debunked the allegation that the doctor gave a wrong prescription and was called to rectify her mistake.
“There are no records at the hospital that says she gave a wrong prescription, there's no one who can survive the alleged drug prescribed by the junior doctor”
He went on to say that the junior doctor could have harmed herself because of the trauma she has gone through.
“The rate at which the junior doctor has been subjected to public criticisms could cause her greatly and if care is not taken, could harm herself.
Dr. Frank Serebour said these in a conversation with Yaw Boamah on Sompa Tv socio-political show on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022.
