Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah II, Paramount Chief of Fiapre Traditional Authority has disclosed the intention of the authority to establish a community Library and ICT centre in the town.
According to the Vice Chancellor (VC) of the Ghana Communication Technology University in Accra, the establishment of the library and ICT centre would help boost education and research in the community.
"We have started the provision of computers for the various Basic and Secondary schools our jurisdiction but that is not enough, therefore we want to establish a community Library and ICT centre that would be open to the entire community", he disclosed.
He made this known at a press conference held at Fiapre on Sunday December 4 to commence the celebration of Education Festival and 5th Anniversary of the enstoolment of Obrempong Prof. Kyem-Amponsah II as Fiaprehene.
The Chief who is also a renowned educationist explained, the celebration of the education Festival is the first of it's kind and its meant to leave a legacy that would motivate the descendants of Fiapre to get to the top of the education ladder and excell in all aspects of their lives.
Obrempong Professor Kyem Amponsah said, the celebration of the Education Festival is a means to also showcase the investment already made in education since his assumption of the stool as a Chief.
"Since my assumption of the stool, the Fiapre Traditional Authority have conducted free vacation classes for the students and secured a scholarship for them as well. We have also provided financial support to the brilliant but needy students to pursue their education."
The Chief and VC indicated, to sustain the support to the students, the Authority is soliciting for funds to create an endowment fund.
Finals of the Obrempong Maths and Science Quiz, Workshop for Interested artisans by Non Governmental organization, Arts and Culture Competition are some of the series of events lined up for the celebration of the Education Festival and the 5th Anniversary of the Chief.
The rest are; a lecture that presents the early history of Fiapre, Football Games, Clean up exercise and free health screening.
The Grand durbar of Chiefs and People climax the celebration on Saturday.
