Hajia Samira Bawumia, the Second Lady has been singled out for praise for her commitment towards women empowerment in the country.
"The passion demonstrated by the first Lady towards women empowerment and development is exceptional worthy of emulation", says Nana Akosua Duah Asor Brayie II, the Paramount Queen Mother of the Sunyani Traditional Area.
Nana Brayie II gave the praise when Hajia Bawumia paid a courtesy call on the Sunyani Traditional Council, as part of her day's working visit to the Municipality on Thursday December 15.
Describing the first lady as her mentor, the Paramount Queen mother indicated that the chief and people of Sunyani were aware, acknowledged and appreciated what the governent was doing towards the development of Sunyani and the Bono Region.
That notwithstanding, Nana Brayie II, appealed to the government to ugrade the B/A Regional Hospital in Sunyani to a teaching hospital.
"The people of Sunyani would forever be grateful and remember you if our hospital is upgraded to a teaching status", she stated.
Hajia Bawumia expressed appreciation to the traditional council for receiving her, and promised to ensure that the basic developmental needs of the people of Sunyani and the region by extention tackled.
She said she has proritised women empowerment, welfare and child education, and rallied the support of the council to achieve her vision for the nation.
Earlier, Madam Justina Owusu-Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister who led the First Lady's entourage appreciated the support of the council towards development of the region.
