The Head Teacher of C.B Mensah Adventist preparatory school Mr. Gabriel Fosu at Antoa in the Kwabre East of the Ashanti Region has made a passionate appeal to the government to reduce the cost of National standards text (NST) for private schools to at least 10cedis instead of 34 for class two and 38 for class two.
According to him, government schools are free but private schools are supposed to pay before they are been allowed to write the standards text meanwhile they are all Ghanaian students.
He disclosed that the national standards text should capture all school-going children because it helps teachers to access the strength of each student.
Mr. Gabriel Fosu stated that the National standards text is a step in the right direction.
“next year the JHS two are going to write theirs and this will make the BECE examination cheaper for the students, he said.
He made this statement when CB Mensah Adventist preparatory was celebrating its career Day and graduation ceremony at the school premises at Antoa in Ashanti Region with the theme” Nurturing 21st-century learners to be self-reliant through discovery and Christian Education.
He seized the opportunity to appeal to the government and NGOs to come to their aid and build the school library and provide them with a computer to boost teaching and learning in the school.
On his part, the Kwabre East municipal Parents Teacher Association chairman, Nana Kwaku Boateng disclosed that career Day is so essential in child education because when a child sees himself or herself in a professional dress the child can strive to meet that ambition.
He entreats all children who have come home to adhere to their parents as they celebrate this Christmas festival likewise parents.
