Fire has razed to the ground 14-bedroom apartment at Odomase, the Sunyani West Municipal capital, causing extensive damage to personal belongings and properties running thousands of Ghana cedi.
Though no casualty was recorded, everything in the apartment was burnt into ashes.
The cause of the fire is yet to be known.
The Assistant Divisional Officer Grade Two (ADOII) Kwame Adomako, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Bono regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) told Sompa FM in Sunyani in an interview that the fire started around 2000 hours on Thursday January 6.
He said the people around the neighborhood was able to rescue the only woman in one of the apartment when the fire started. The woman is believed to be in her mid eighty's but for the timely intervention of some young men she would have been trapped by the fire.
ADOII Adomako said the old woman had already inhaled some smoke before she was rescued therefore he admonished the family to seek medical attention for her.
Unfortunately, when the personnel of the GNFS reached the scene, the fire has already assumed a dangerous dimension, he stated.
Though the cause of the fire is not yet known, Kwame Adomako said the Service has launched investigation into the incident. He cautioned the public to be extra careful in the dry season as any mistake could cause fire.
