The Benkumhemaa of Dormaa Traditional Council has asked the general public to disregard any claim that there is violence and killings at Bomaa as a result of the funeral of the late Chief.
There were earlier media reportage that there is violence at Bomaa in the Ahafo region during the late Bomaahene/Dormaa Nifahene, Barima Kwarfo Akoto funeral and to the extent that the Ghana police service has arrested the Queen mother of Dormaa traditional council.
The Chiefs and people of Bomaa, in the Ahafo region are today holding the funeral of their late Chief, Barima Kwarfo Akoto.
Drumming, the blowing of horns and the singing of dirges, amidst incessant wailing by women, filled the air when a retinue of chiefs and their followers from near and far made their way to the funeral grounds of the late Chief.
But at a news conference Friday January 6, the Benkumhemaa of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Nana Yeboaah Pene described all the claims as false.
"The Chiefs and Queen mothers of the Dormaa Traditional Council wishes to inform the general public that there is peace at Bomaa and Barima Kwarfo Akoto’s funeral is ongoing peacefully."
Nana Pene asked all sympathizers to treat all other information that seek to put fear in the people as falsehood that intend to damage the reputation of the traditional authority. She called on sympathizers and those who wish to observe the beautiful display of culture to join them without fear.
“The Queen mother of Dormaa Traditional Council, Dr Akosua Frema Dwabeng was only performing tradition, by our customs the late Chief of Bomaa is the son of the Queen mother. Shw arrived at Bomaa with the firing of musketry and not the firing of teargas nor other harmful substances that claim lives”, she explained in Twi.
