The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) management of Asafo Market branch in Kumasi are lamenting and calling for the security to come to their support because their works are collapsing due to the continuous armed robbery attack at the area.
According to the Asafo Market Welfare Secretary, Mr. Francis Ebo-Nadel, people find it difficult to come to Asafo Market to pick a cars to their various destinations especially at dawn and late in the night because they fear that robbers would attack them for their goods and injured them.
He explained that most of the people who used to patronize their services have turned to other lorry terminals for the fear of these robbers.
In a one-on-one interview with Bawah Baidoo on Friday January 6, Mr. Ebo-Nadel explained that, “the station has turned to be the favourite joint for prostitutes where young ladies stand to source for men. This does not augur well for a place like a lorry station.”
He called on the authorities of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to endeavor to provide them with some security post, adding that the presence of the Police would help reduce the numerous number of criminal activities at the terminal.
Meanwhile, he admonished passengers to be very careful when coming to the terminal to patronize their services.
Mr. Ebo-Nadel, ceased the opportunity to advise the public to be careful in the usage of fire as the harmattan season is prone to fire outbreaks.
