The Member of Parliament for Tafo - Pankrono Constituency, Honorable Vincent Asafuah has cleared the air on the alleged feud between him and some party faithful.
The honorable member in an interview with Sompa Tv on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023, noted with great concern that the uproar in the constituency is a result of some delegates who have decided not to reason with the need to smoke piece pipe in the constituency.
According to him, an invitation by the chief of Tafo, Nana Agyin Frimpong was an opportunity to account to his constituents and to bring oneness among them.
“I was invited by the chief, Nana Agyin Frimpong, to celebrate the last Akwasidae and to account to the people so I took the opportunity to invite all my polling station executives through the constituency secretary so that we could dine and resolve the impasse knowing very well that there is feud among us but to my utmost surprise, some of them didn't come, I can count about 100 people who didn't show up but were present at the chief palace, he said.
He continues to say it was the first time he was inviting his constituents so that they could trash out all issues.
“It was my first time inviting all polling station executives, I spent huge sums of money for a buffet knowing that dining together will help resolve the impasse, but they never show up, all the delegates were at the chiefs palace but more than 100 delegates didn't come to my party, it was a way to account to them because they are the real owners of the party, I made sure every delegate who attended the meeting had a token home, I don't know whether they were expecting me to come to their homes with their gift, he said.
He told Omanhene that delegates going around instigating that he was selective on his invite are neither here nor there.
According to him, as a true party faithful, you must prioritize the party first and don't need to be friends with each other to serve the best interest of the party but rather work diligently for the party irrespective of individual differences.
He revealed that there's a division among the executives and can't fathom why.
“You won't believe that after two years of elections, people still hold on to their anger, and have divided the party into two because they support one candidate against me as if we are still in an election year.
He further added that he has remained calm on pressing issues which bother family differences within the constituency.
“Some time ago, when the MP was in a certain family, we all supported, I was a polling station executive, and nothing happened but today, it's in a certain family, and it's as if that family has bad blood, and they see everything wrong with every move, which is bad, but I have decided not to talk about it, I'm not bothered, am not perturbed, I'm focused on delivering to the people because when I look back, I feel the joy of the people because I have touched a lot of lives, he said.
