The timely intervention of fire fighters averted a potential disaster at Fiapre near Sunyani in the early hours of Friday, when attendants at a popular Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) re-filling station detected a leakage on one of the gas pipe lines.
Though the atmosphere within the enclave was filled with quantities of LPG, the attendants at the JoeKona Gas filling station managed to prevent a fire outbreak.
Sompa FM in Sunyani gathered that personnel of the Bono Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene timely to bring the situation under the control.
Assists Divisional Officer Grade One (ADO1) Innocent Dodzi, the Sunyani Municipal Operations Officer of the GNFS spoke to Sompa FM saying, "we came to the realized the gas was all over the atmosphere and we managed to control the situation to avert any possible fire outbreak. We have managed the situation, no casualty has been recorded so they can resume their work."
