Some concerned parents in the Sunyani Municipality of the Bono region are advocating a ban to restrict use of social media by girls to help control teenage pregnancy in the country.
They said the uncontrolled use of social media expose girls to pornographic materials and thereby introduce them early sex and promiscuity.
Others also told Sompa FM teenage girls lacked sex education, hence the need parents to draw their adolescent girls closer and introduce them to basic sex education so that those who could not control their sexual desire would avoid unprotected sex.
Meanwhile, Mrs Joycelyn Adii, the Bono Regional Director of the Department of Gender is worried about rising cases on teenage pregnancy in the region.
Teenage pregnancy, she added remained inimical to the holistic growth and development of girls and therefore called on everybody to help intensify sex education and bring the situation under control.
