The Founder and General Overseer of Life Assembly Worship Centre, Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrews, popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has described individuals who believe in the Bible as jokers, saying, “It’s a history book.”
The founder of Ghana Union Movement (GUM) in an interview with Nana Kwame Owusu Nkwantabisa, host of Sompa Ade Akye Abiaa Show on Sompa FM in Sunyani said, Ghanaians have brainwashed themselves with the Bible to the detriment of their progress and development.
“Do you hear the name of Jesus mentioned in China or Dubai, but look at how their countries are prospering. We sit in Ghana and allow someone to write a book and name it the word of Ghana and we accept it, extort our people using that history book.”
“We must stop this hypocritical talk that we are pleasing God so that we go to heaven and speak truth to those in authority”, he added.
Former President, John Dramani Mahama, has called on church leaders to speak truth to power.
According to him, the church, which serves as the moral conscience of society, must not be passive in the governance of the country.
Speaking at the induction ceremony of the new General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Mr Mahama said the church must not be selective when criticizing those at the helm of the country’s affairs.
Responding to the call of the former Ghanaian leader, the outspoken man of God indicated that, “They are silent because of their greediness. They are only interested in the huge sums of monies their congregants would contribute to them as offering. They are concern about getting unmerited favour from the politicians that’s why they fear to speak truth to power.”
“They are not concern about their congregants and the poor Ghanaian but their selfish interest. About 90% of men of God in Ghana are fake, they are not God ordained Pastors.”
“People are really suffering in the country people are facing untold hardships yet men of God and traditional rulers who are expected to boldly tell the Politicians that things are going wrongly are rather silent. We sit aloof and brainwash ourselves with the history book called Bible”, Kyiriabosom stressed.
