A wreath laying ceremony has been held today, 28th February, 2023 at the Freedom Monument in Osu to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Crossroad Shooting Incident on the 28th February, 1948.
The 28th February Christiansburg Crossroads Shooting Incident is celebrated every year to honor the defenseless Ex-servicemen who in 1948 were killed by the colonial Police while marching peacefully to the Osu Castle to present a petition to the then Governor Sir Gerald Creasy.
The Vice President, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia first laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana. Four other wreaths were followed on behalf of the security services, veterans and traditional rulers in honor of the fallen soldiers Sergeant Adjetey, Cpl Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey.
Representing the Prisons Service were the Director General of Prisons Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir, the Director of Prisons in charge of Technical Dr. Francis Omane Addo, the Director of Prisons in charge of Services Mrs Patience Baffoe - Bonnie (Esq) and the Director of Prisons in charge of Finance Mr. Samuel Adjei - Attah.
