Work has began on the expansion of the Sunyani water supply system that will provide potable drinking water to residents in Sunyani and beyond.
The 133 million Euro projects, being funded by the government and expected to be completed in 2025 would supply potable drinking water to communities including Chiraa, Yawhima, Kuotokrom, Odumase, Fiapre, Mantukwa, and Dumasua.
Other beneficiary communities include Techire, Yamfo, Tanoso and Susuanso in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
The LR Group is executing the project at the Abesim Headworks of the Ghana Water Company.
Mr Francis Agyei-Boateng, the chief Manager, Project Planning and Development, GWCL disclosed this in an interview with Sompa FM on the sidelines of a public forum in Sunyani to disseminate the outcome of an environmental impact assessment conducted on the project.
Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister highlighted on the benefit of the project.
