Central Regional Director for the Department of Gender, Ms. Richlove Amanoo has said that bridging the gender gap between males and females will remain stale without the men on board.
She said this at a program held by the Central Regional Department of Gender to earmark the year's International Women's Day held at the Central Regional Coordinating Council in Cape Coast on the theme "Digital: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality."
The program, aimed at encouraging women to venture into the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) which are mostly men-dominated and to also help educate the need to bridge the gender gap, saw some top-ranked secondary schools within the region like Mfanstipim Senior High, Holy Child Girls Senior High School, the Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School, St. Augustine's College, and the Adisadel College in attendance.
Ms. Richlove Amonoo in an interview with Eric Annan of Sompa TV/FM after the program said, the reason for bringing onboard the opposite sex schools is to let men understand what women go through that requires their support.
She pleaded with teachers to encourage female students to read STEM programs which will help the country unearth a good number of female computer scientists and engineers in the future.
The Central Regional Minister, Hon. Justina Marigold Assan who doubles as a trained teacher having graced the awe-inspiring program with her kind words advised students not to joke with their studies but to make their parents, teachers and the country proud with humility and academic excellence.
