Central Regional Director for the Department of Gender, Ms. Richlove Amanoo has called on respective authorities, particularly guardians in charge of the well-being of physically challenged persons to keep a close eye on them from getting exposed to sexual immoralities at a younger age.
According to her, physically challenged individuals, particularly those at the Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind are sexually active and stand a high risk of indulging in sexual activities at an early age.
She made this statement to Sompa TV/FM reporter Eric Annan after a courtesy visit to the Cape Coast School for the Deaf and Blind in an extensive education on sexual reproductive health to earmark this year's International Women's Day celebration.
Her visit to the school after engaging 61 pupils, revealed only 16 out of the total were virgins.
Ms. Richlove Amanoo commenting on the shocking revelation said people who are physically challenged are left behind in celebration of events like women's day.
She, however, called on organizations (NGOs) within the Central Region to collaborate with the Department of Gender to help curb the abnormality having disclosed her outfit's all-inclusive exercise to offer help to all persons as inscribed in the gender law.
Speaking to Sompa News Assistant head, Madam Regina Essilfie expressed excitement over the program and said the Gender Director's engagement with her students has been an impactful one and called for more such engagement to help shape the pupils for a brighter tomorrow.
