Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, the acting Eastern Regional Director for Ghana TVET Service in the stead of the Director General Ghana TVET Service, Mawusi Nudekor Awity launched the 40th Anniversary of St. Joseph's Technical institute, Kwahu - Tafo.
The Chairperson for the occasion Nana Akyere Gyenyah ll, Krontihene of Kwahu Tafo and Board Chairman for St. Joseph Technical Institute in his address expressed his joy of being associated with the Institute because his grandfather who was the Krontihene then, released land for the Institute to be established. 40 years on, he is the Krontihene, Board Chairman of the Institute and chairing the 40th anniversary launch of the very Institute his grandfather embraced.
In a brief report by Nana Akyere Gyenyah II, through the effective collaboration of the School Board and PTA have procured 200 bags of cement to support the pavilion project of the School. Nana also seized the opportunity to admonish the students to be disciplined and acquire the 21st century industry relevant skills being facilitated in the school.
According to Principal, Miss Faustina A. Afoko, The Institute was established by Rev. Fr Norbert Mushoff (SVD) in 1982. a German National, the Institute offer 11 TVET programs with a student population of over one thousand. Miss Afoko in her submission thanked her management and staff for their support and hard work.
The Acting Eastern Regional Director for TVET, Madam Evelyn Dansoa Boateng, in a speech read on behalf of the Director General Ghana TVET service, Mawusi Nudekor Awity. She congratulated the Catholic Church and Management of the Institute for 40 years of hard work in the delivery Technical and Vocational Education and Training. Madam Boateng seized the opportunity to appeal to Ghanaians to do away with the misconception that TVET is for non performing students and its related occupations are for the male.
According to Madam Boateng women in TVET especially in the male dominated trade areas are doing very well in the engineering field and is about time we step up the promotion of gender equity to enhance adaptation in order to create awareness about the importance of skills training and employment opportunities therein for the Youth with focus on Gender Responsive approach and equity in order to transform our Society and Economy.
