Police Commander for Twifo Atti-Morkwa, DSP Charles Addei Boateng together with his charges from the Twifo Praso Police Command has arrested Nana Nkwantabisa lll, chief of Twifo Anyinase who doubles as Krontihene for the Twifo Traditional Council, his Queen Mother, Nana Amoanimaa Brago III, the Zongo Chief, Sariki Tahiru, Abakomahene, and two others for stealing railway metals.
It will be called that some individuals from the community were earlier reported to have been stealing the railway metals to sell them cheaply to scrap dealers. An act that mainly occurs at night.
The police as part of their patrol exercise, spotted the suspects on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 night cutting the railway metals with the help of a torch light and holding machines which led to their arrest.
A report by Sompa News reporter Eric Annan indicates, the primary suspects are the same people announcing the lost materials at various information centers within the community.
The persistent activity has for some time now contributed negatively to drawing back the government's effort to increase Ghana's railway system.
Nana Nkwantabisa who from 1992-2000 got appointed as the DCE for Twifo Atti-Morkwa together with his accomplices following their arrest were put before the Assin Foso Magistrate Court where the parties were charged with the offense of stealing and destruction of government property.
The court during trials decided to have the suspects remanded for two weeks which had both the Chief and his Queen Mother break into tears for it to be later reversed.
The suspects have been granted bail of GH¢50,000 with two sureties and are set to reappear before the court on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
