On Tuesday 28th March, 2023 a day's workshop aimed at building the capacity of Principals of Public TVET Schools administered by the Ghana TVET Service was held at the Miklin Hotel, East Legon.
According to the Director General, Ghana TVET Service, Mawusi Nudekor Awity in her welcome address, the decision to organize the capacity building workshop is in line with the operationalization of the Ghana TVET Service and changing dynamics and rudiments of effective financial management as required of the internal Audit Agency, Act 2019 L.I. 2378 and the Public financial management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
She appealed to the Principals to help change the narrative in the TVET Transformational Agenda which is currently ongoing.
She concluded her opening address by admonishing participants to go back with a renewed mindset.
Kojo Adu, a Snr. Manager Partnerships, WEL and Inclusion Division facilitated on topic; Resource Mobilization and Production Unit. In his submission he said, a successful Resource Mobilization must be done with conscious effort, delibrate steps and timeliness.
He concluded by saying the Resource Mobilization drive is aimed at creating an ongoing innovative and sustainable way of channeling vital resources to help achieve the goals and objectives of the Service.
The Director of Finance at the Ministry of Education, Nana Dr. David Annan Bonny facilitated on; Effective Financial Management where he admonished Principals to adhere to internal control system to prevent fraud as fraud when detected early, makes an automatic savings for the institution and Nation.
Mr. Patrick Arthur from the Budget Unit at the Ministry of Education presented on the fee structure of the Government Free TVET programme and prevention of audit infractions and queries.
The Director General for CTVET, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, spoke on the harmonisation of the TVET curriculum where he said there will be training for all staff.
Head, Standards, Curriculum Dept.and Enforcement (SCD&E) for the Commission for TVET, Dr. Peter Boahin stated that beginning 2023, CTVET exams will be conducted by the generation of different versions of the examination for learners to write to prevent the occurrence of examination malpractices.
Mr. Edward Dogbey from the Ministry of Education spoke on Education Management Information System (EMIS) Data Collection, Production and Analysis where he encouraged Principals of TVET Institutes to give out data to their team when they are deployed anytime so the National database of the Ministry of Education will be fed for planning and budgeting.
Ag. Director, HRMD Ms. Alice Akorfa Dolley presented on the Ghana TVET Service Scheme and Organogram where she reiterated on the point that no staff will be made worse off with the coming into force of the new scheme for the Ghana TVET Service.
In participation were the Deputy Director General, Operations, Mr. David Prah, Deputy Director General, Management Services, Ms. Lily Djima, Ag. Directors of the Service and Deputies, Ag Regional Directors, Deputy Regional Directors, Heads of Units and Staff at the Headquarters.
