The Ghana Gas Processing Plant (GPP) has announced a shutdown of the gas plant in order to undertake some maintenance work at Atuabo in the Western Region.
The maintenance programme, which commenced on March 25, 2023, is expected to last for 14 days.
In a release, the Energy Ministry indicated that in order to manage the impact the shutdown would have on consumers, the government of Ghana is procuring additional gas from Nigeria to complement the available domestic gas for power generation.
The ministry also added that, in effect, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) will release a schedule for power outages in some areas.
The programme when completed will ensure the reliability of the gas processing plant and transmission infrastructure.
