Commissioner of Police Nathan Kofi Boakye has announced his retirement, effective Wednesday, April 5, 2023, just a week after the departure of the highly regarded Superintendent Effia Tenge.
It has been claimed that Effia Tenge submitted her resignation to the highest levels of the police force last week to take on a new position in the Ghanaian Parliament.
As Ghanaians continue to digest the news that dominated the media space on Saturday, April 1, 2022, it has emerged that COP Kofi Boakye is also on his way out.
During the Friday, March 31st, episode of his show, Kwame Sefa Kayi announced that COP Kofi Boakye will be leaving his position in the police force.
In a moving homage, Sefa Kayi noted that Kofi Boakye will retire from the police force on April 5th, a day on which the legend of the force has accomplished so much.
"On Wednesday of next week, Kofi Boakye will turn sixty years old. On Wednesday of next week, he plans to retire. I don’t know if there will be a retirement ceremony for him, but he’s leaving the police force on Wednesday of next week.” He stated
