Chief of Biriwa in the Mfantseman Municipality in the Central Region, Nana Kwa Boko V together with Nana Akwa-Djan l, his Mpuntuhen (Developmental Chief) and Nana Ekua Tsetsewa I the Mpuntuhemaa have as part of the community's Easter celebration fed over 200 widows and the aged on Monday, April 10, 2023.
The distinctive program held at the community's durbar grounds saw the venerable gifted bags of rice, cooking oil, clothes, can fish, soft drinks, and bottled water, among others.
Nana Akwa-Djan in a conversation with Sompa News reporter Eric Annan attributed that most of the widows have had the demise of their husbands financially affect their livelihoods.
Judging from the fact that the area's occupation hugely relied upon being fishing is currently on the low, turns to be the motivating factor behind the program's organization at this period where sacrifice is considerably paramount.
Husband to the Mpuntuhemaa who doubles as King to the Igbo Community in Ghana, His Royal Majesty Eze Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu speaking at the program which witnessed the turnout of most young men and women, took the opportunity and advised the youth to desist the intake of hard drugs like cocaine, heroin, and weed smoking.
An act he recalled to be killing a lot of African youths has turned to become the other of the day in the current dispensation.
He, therefore, appealed to the youths of Biriwa to stay from such conduct as he encouraged parents to jealously guard the future of their wards who the country counts on as its future leaders.
Meanwhile, the memorable event which is said to have cost the Mpuntuhen a tune of over Gh¢45,000 in its organization at the end had these widows and aged extend their utmost appreciation to organizers of the program.
