Cedi Foundation Healthcare, a US based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) committed to improving quality healthcare for marginalized patients, has donated medical equipment and accessories worth US$10,000 to the Pediatric Oncology Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).
The donations, made up of 4 patient monitors, 4 infusion pumps, 10 sphygmomanometers and branded T-shirts, were presented by Mr. Lawrence Kofi Frimpong, Founder & President of the Foundation and his wife, Dr. Mrs. Divine Opuni-Frimpong.
Speaking to newsmen in Kumasi, Mr. Frimpong disclosed that the foundation has supported the treatment of cancer patients over the years through the benevolence of his partners in the United States of America.
He said the donations were made possible through constant engagement with the medical practitioners of the Pediatric Oncology Unit, especially Dr. Lawrence Osei Tutu, on the wish list of equipment and other accessories need for the treatment of patients.
“The list was used in soliciting for support from benevolent individuals and was complemented by the effort of my family which made possible. He explained.
Mr. Frimpong expressed his sincere appreciation to all those whose collective efforts helped to provide quality care to patients with cancer related conditions.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Pediatric Oncology Unit, Dr. (Mrs.) Vivian Paintsil, Head of the Unit, conveyed the Unit’s profound appreciation
She pointed out that most of the patients are bedeviled with numerous challenges which makes them skip their treatment cycles. “These challenges include nutritional needs, inability to afford transport and laboratory investigations aid their treatments”, she disclosed.
Mrs. Paintsil therefore, urged the foundation to extend a helping hand in the aforementioned areas to help improve the quality of care to patients.
