Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Hon Elizabeth Kwatsoe Sackey Tawiah has commissioned three boreholes at Ga Mashie, a suburb of Accra.
The project which was funded by Madam Peggy Adamafio, President and founder of Relief and Aid International, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) supporting brilliant but needy students is expected to among other things to provide relief and end the perennial water shortages in the community.
Addressing a durbar of chiefs and people of Ga Mashie, the first female Mayor of Accra challenged residents in the area to maintain and take very care of the project to ensure its sustainability and assured them of more developmental projects soon.
Hon. Sackey called for inclusivity and a united front among the residents of Ga Mashie to foster growth and development while admonishing the youth to desist from activities that promote laziness and hamper hard work and productivity.
Madam Peggy Adamafio, on her part, noted that the borehole project at Ga Mashie was not the first of its kind and outlined similar projects embarked on by her team citing the commissioning of two boreholes at Denkyira, provision of electricity and streets lights to Tupa and other schools in the Greater Accra Region.
She pledged to pay the cost of power needed to support the pumping of the underground water for 10 years to ensure the continuous flow of potable water.
Madam Adamafio charged beneficiaries of the project to be mindful of the future and support other needy and handicapped children in the community when they attain positions of power and influence in society.
