The Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah and a team from the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council on 25 April 2023 called on the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Lu Kun.

The visit was part of an initiative by the Ashanti Regional Minister to forge stronger mutually beneficial relationship between the Region and China.

The Reginal Minister noted that though the Region has benefited from a number of projects spearheaded by the Chinese government such as the Syno-hydro project as well as the Ghana-China Project on Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Technical Universities, there are other areas that can be of mutual benefit to both parties such as rice production, railway development among others.

H.E. Lu Kun, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana noted that rice production and railway development are area that China has a lot of expertise in, thus, such collaboration will be a step in the right direction.
