The Coalition of Concerned Teachers-Ghana in the Central Region has issued a stern warning to the government not to touch their pension funds as part of its public debt exchange restructuring program.
The coalition emphasized that their pension funds are their future and any attempt to touch it will result in a banter.
Amos Amoako, the coalition's Central Regional Secretary highlighted in a conversation with Sompa News reporter Eric Annan that government should focus on the challenges retarding the progress of Ghana's education sector than their pension funds.
He pointed out the education sector is suffering from the lack of curriculum textbooks as teachers are forced to google to equip themselves with information to teach their students.
This situation, according to him, is compelling and sensitive enough to draw the government's attention other than its channeled focus on their pension funds.
Eric Ekow Appiah Asante, the coalition's Central Regional Vice Chairperson, urged government to put in stringent measures to ease off the education sector's imposed frustrations on teachers in the country rather than compounding them with its initiated policies.
The Coalition of Concerned Teachers-Ghana in the Central Region is firm in its stance that the government should not touch their pension funds and should instead focus on addressing the challenges facing the education sector.
