Emmanuel Kwakye, a 26-years-old man nearly got killed on Monday, May 8, 2023 after stealing three (3) sacks of cassava from a farm at Denkyira Essiam in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency in the Central Region.
The thieve who identified himself to be a resident of Essiam is said to have being stealing from the particular farm he was caught with sacks of cassava.
Mohammed Ekow Arthur, an eyewitness to the incident narrated to Sompa News reporter Eric Annan to have received a distress call from his brother whose farm was raked to tell him of the apprehension of a young men who was caught uprooting cassava from his farm land and has been sent to the police station together with the stolen cassava for interrogations.
Owner of the farm, Alhaji Issah Mohammed popularly known as Alhaji I.L.M. revealed to be facing bitter experiences from thieves on his farm land with most of his farm produce often harvested by unknown individuals after huge sums spent.
According to him, he spends almost GH¢200 every week transporting workers to work for him on the farm having had residents of Denkyira Essiam on several occasion collected money to work on the farm without doing the needful.
He recounted of having the assurance to arrest culprits behind the act one day which has thankful materialized.
Suspect is currently at the Enyan Denkyira Police Station assisting in investigation after calling out names of some persons he said to have been selling his stolen cassava crops to.
