The Central North Regional Police Command in Assin Fosu have arrested 33-year-old, Joyce Amoabeng popularly known to be Maame Fowaa over the attempt to kill her biological mother for reasons best known to her at Assin Dansame in the Assin North Municipality in the Central Region.
The victim, Theresa Amoah, 59, narrated to Sompa News reporter Eric Annan that her daughter, Maame Fowaa as at 10:30pm on Wednesday sneaked into her bedroom to suffocate her to death after strangling her neck, covering her mouth and nose in the process.
Upon struggling to breath or shout, the victim managed in pulling down the face covering of the suspect who was clad in a long straight dress (Jalabia).
The noise from their tussle attracted a female neighbor passing by the house from a night vigil to came to her rescue out of curiosity which led to the suspect fleeing but later got arrested by the Assin Fosu Police Command.
She recounted to be living in fear since the occurrence and have never been able to catch a good night sleep after the incident.
The suspect following her arrest was later arranged before the Assin Fosu District Court on account of 'Causing Harm' to the mother after sustaining cuts on the mouth and bruises on the neck.
The court presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Illiasu after its hearing granted the suspect a bail of GH¢5,000 with two sureties to reappear before the court on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
An outcome the victim finds unpleasant following her claim to be receiving threat messages from the daughter to kill her even whiles at police custody.
