Agya Kwao, an 8-year-old boy has met his untimely death after drinking a palm wine suspected to be poisoned at Awutu Bantama in the Awutu Senya West District in the Central Region.
A report by Sompa TV/FM's Eric Annan uncovers, the palm wine tapper, Kwadee infected his palm wine with a poisonous substance after continually noticing thieves to be stealing his wine.
Mercy Acquah, Auntie to the deceased remarked to have heard the boy scream for help hence rushed to the scene only to find the boy in an uncontrollable situation.
The boy was then taken to the Awutu Bontrase Health Center where checks conducted revealed the boy has taken in a poisonous substance.
Medical officers at the facility there referred the boy to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital but died on the way.
Personnels at the Awutu Bereku Police Station after the incident proceeded to the scene where samples of the palm wine were taken to the Hospital which established all the palm wine in the farm to be poisoned.
Three other minors who accompanied the deceased to the farm narrated, they threw their share of the palm wine away upon noticing someone come towards their direction, unlike the deceased who drunk his.
Body of the deceased has been deposited at the Winneba Specialist and Trumar Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
