A 38-year-old farmer popularly known to be Otwea Amokua has shot his 45-year-old girlfriend, Nkumah at Breman Nkonya near Breman Asikuma in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) District in the Central Region following a misunderstanding over chop money.
Report has it that, the girlfriend who has four children with her late husband has for sometime now been agitating for chop money increment to the amount her boyfriend gives her, that it appears too small to adequately fend for the house considering the current economical hardship.
The persisted rift is said to spark heated argument whenever the matter is brought up by the victim.
Kofi Tawiah, a neighbor who doubles as an eyewitness to the incident narrated to Sompa TV/FM's Eric Annan that the suspect prior to his atrocious act on Monday, May 15, 2023, had earlier in the day threatened to shot her girlfriend and other individuals having went and bought a new double-bar gun with bullets.
Suspect's anomaly had propel the eyewitness to go and log an official complain over the incident to the Breman Asikuma Police Station, only to be called few minutes before he could go to file the report that the accused has shot his girlfriend.
According to report, the suspect upon taking to his heels a day after the incident, went to a nearby village to sell off the gun he used in committing the act over complain of having his son hospitalized, hence selling the gun to use the money cater for his medications and hospital bills only for the news to get to that locality as well which engineered the suspect to flee for his life.
The gun of the suspect together some bullets were retrieved and sent to the Breman Asikuma Police Station.
Victim after the incident was rushed to the Breman Asikuma Hospital who later referred her to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for proper medical treatment to her critical condition.
Suspect is still yet to be found as both the Breman Asikuma Police Command and residents manhunts for him.
