The students of Nursing and Midwifery Students at Bantama in the Ashanti Region- Kumasi have dedicated sanitary pads to some young girls in the Suame Municipal Area in the early hours of Thursday May 24.
Speaking on Sompa 93.1FM, Abigail Sarfo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Live the Dream Foundation and also a student of the Komfo Anokye Nursing and midwifery, she stated that, it is very important for parents and guardians to educate their young girls while they are growing up instead of letting them grow up before educating them on menstruation.
She said this would assist the young girl to be able to dress properly during menstruation, exude confidence in herself during that period and the food she has to eat during that important moment of her life.
Madam Abigail also said that, during this stage of their lives they are traumatized and pushed away by their friends and other people due to the undesirable behaviors some of them engage in.
"This stigmatization puts pressure on the girl child and makes them uncomfortable living with a lot of people or even their colleagues in school", she added.
Abigail Sarfo said Live the Dream Foundation is here to stay to help build the confidence of the girl child and others who do not have the access to buying sanitary pads every month.
