The former Auditor General, Daniel Yao Domelovo has expressed his joy after Supreme Court ruled that the President Nana Akufo Addo’s decision to force him to embark on an extended leave was unconstitutional.
When Mr Domelevo pointed this out as unlawful, his leave was further extended from 123 days to 167 effective July 1, 2020.
Speaking on Sompa FM’s Ade Akye Abia, Mr. Domelevo slammed the president, for disrespecting the law and compelling him to take 169 working days of accumulated leave.
When asked about his initial reaction when he heard the Supreme court’s ruling, Mr. Domelovo stated that the ruling was satisfactory and will serve as a caution to the President to never mistreat anyone who is protected by the constitution.
“I thank God that Supreme court has unanimously agreed that the President’s move was prejudicial. Hopefully, the President will learn to treat my successors with respect.” He said.
According to the former Auditor General, seeking redress and damages will not be necessary since the ruling was more than enough for him.
“After the Supreme Court declared my forced leave as null and void, seeking damages would be futile, as it would involve using taxpayer funds to compensate me.” He told Omanhene Yaw Adu Boakye.
Mr. Domelevo emphasized that the Supreme Court's ruling held the utmost importance to him, but he has moved on with his life where he is travelling the world and engaging in other relevant obligations.
