Vice Chancellor for the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong has shared his frustration over the fact that students admitted to the school's College of Distance Education (CoDE) aren't utilizing the university's allocated financial support for needy students.
The well-thought-through initiative by the university is designed to assist brilliant but needy students admitted at the tertiary institution.
Speaking at the university's 7th session of its 55th congregation held for graduating students with the College of Distance Education, the Vice Chancellor bemoaned that less than the required number of students last year applied to be assisted by the school's study fund.
He emphasized that students eligible to access the fund should score a CGPA of 2.5 and above as the support scheme is made available to all students at the College.
Most Rev. Titus Awotwe Kwesi Pratt who represented the Chairman of Council at the event uncovered UCC to be operating the best distance education in Ghana in present times.
He further reiterated the university to be among the best universities across the globe offering quality in terms of distance education.
The ceremony saw 20,482 students from various study centres across the country conferred with Diplomas and Degrees after a successful completion to their programmes of study.
