Report coming in indicates the Bono East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ibrahim Abubakar Musah Bukhari is in critical condition following a ghastly accident at Nnuaso in the Assin North District.
Sources has it that Mr. Abubakar was returning from a campaign trip at Assin Ninkyiso and was heading towards Assin Fosu direction when the motorbike he was travelling with ran into the rear portion of a KIA Truck on Assin Breku-Cape Coast Highway.
The vehicle with registration number GX-3489-14 which was fully loaded with wood was being escorted by the personnel of the Assin Fosu-based Forestry Commission.
Eyewitness reports suggest the victim was overtaking the KIA Truck with top speed which eventually resulted in the accident.
He was rushed to the local CHPS compound for first aid medication but was later referred to St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.
Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) aircraft were called to transport the victim to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for further treatment following a referral by the doctors at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu due to the severity of the injuries.
However, sources within the party revealed that the complaint filed by party executives at the police station suggests the Forestry Commission's vehicle rather crashed the Chairman's motorbike while chasing a suspected vehicle carrying wood.
The Assin Fosu Forestry Manager, Nana Kwabena Agyapong denied the claim that the Commission's vehicle rather hit the motorbike since evidence available proves otherwise.
He was however confident that a thorough investigation launched by the police into the matter will certainly establish the fact of the matter.
