Accused police inspector, Ahmed Twumasi, who murdered his girlfriend, Victoria Dapaah at Adum in the Ashanti region has pleaded not guilty during committal proceedings.
The state attorney after reading out the brief facts of the case in court, Twumasi responded with his plea of not guilty to the charge of murder.
The police inspector also refused to answer any other questions without his lawyer present and stated that he would call witnesses as needed.
In court, the state attorney presented evidence, including the service pistol allegedly used in the crime and CCTV footage capturing the scene, as part of the committal process, outlining Twumasi’s alleged involvement in the crime.
Family members and friends of the deceased after hearing the suspect’s plea became furious causing police to call for reinforcement to prevent any form of assault.
According to sources, some angry family members of the deceased pelted stones at the police vehicle after the suspect was whisked from the court.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Bruce Dapaah, has called on authority to make sure justice is served.
The suspect has however been committed by the Asokore Mampong district court to stand trial at the high court starting 13th July 2023 at 10 am.
Victoria Dapaah, 26, also known as Maa Adwoa was allegedly killed by her boyfriend, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi on 20th April 2023 at Adum, a few meters away from her house.
Insp. Twumasi, who is stationed at the Manhyia Police Station, was remanded when he appeared before the court, presided over by Mr Samuel Buaben Quansah.
