Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency in the Central Region, Hon. Kwamena Minta Nyarko has charged fathers to change the narrative of them being touted as lions at various homes.
He noted that it's about time fathers tone down their bossy and over disciplinarian nature and exhibit some kind of love, care and time towards their wards, contrary to how mothers often describe them to be before their children.
Hon. Minta Nyarko made this statement following the book launch of "Beyond Fatherhood: Changing The Narrative," a book authored by D.C. Kwame Kwakye at the University of Cape Coast's (UCC) Sasakawa Conference Hall on Sunday, July 9, 2023.
According to him, fathers effort in changing the perception their off-springs have about them in being the fear factor at the house has a lot to do with power play as mothers in most instances spend enough time with the kids.
He emphasized to fathers to play a role in the lives of wards to have their children bestow confidence in opening up to them instead of their mothers as fatherhood goes beyond the traditional way of providing for the family and disciplining kids when the need be.
Prof. George K.T. Oduro, a former Pro Vice Chancellor for UCC who doubled as the Chairperson for the august event eulogized the benefits of fathers as inscribed by various religious bodies across the globe and how crucial it is for fathers to carry out their duties without blemish not to have kids and wives see the house as a place of fear and panic.
Author of the book, D.C Kwame Kwakye in his address to the media depicted fathers to be the main architect with regards to child upbringing as wives are there to assist husbands do justice to their duties, contrary to the accepted norm of women having to be the ones to take of the children.
He further recounted to fathers to have a tight bound with their kids in other to have an impact on the children over their directives issued out to them.
