Afro IT Connect, a non-profitable organization has on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 donated thirty (30) computers to Dr. R. P. Baffour Anglican Junior High School in Elmina in the Central Region after years without a computer for Information Communication Technology (ICT) practicals.
The organization as part of its mandate has set upon itself to equip vulnerable basic schools within the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency with adequate computers to enhance pupils knowledge in ICT to get abreast with the present technological world.
The benevolent act showcased by Afro IT Connect was made possible after collective support from various organizations like the Pippins Project, Stream Global, Newob Outreach and the Dr. R. P. Baffour Foundation.
Donation of the computers which got thrilled with a colorful commissioning ceremony, subsequently saw revered individuals like the country's former Information Minister who once served as the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Fritz Baffour and a host other trooped in to support the program.
Mr. Godwin Fiagbedzi, Headmaster of the school speaking to Sompa News Eric Annan said, the donated computers will go a long way to help the school in its teaching and learning module as ICT this days form part of the curriculum.
He, therefore, advised students to take advantage of the school's acquired computers to study as he passionately appealed with them to exercise a good maintenance culture towards the computers to have it last long enough to serve its purpose.
Some final year students of the school who shared their delight over the donated computers recounted that the items will help better their knowledge in ICT to as well propel them gain excellent grades in their pending Best Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in ICT through effective practicals.
