The Deputy Minister for Energy, Hon. Herbert Krapa has identified that the building of a suitable and sustainable transportation systems has over the years been the confronted challenge battling the country's transport system.
He highlighted that in-as-much as transportation remains a notorious contributor to the global energy-related carbon dioxide emissions, it equally appears a crucial element in the economical growth of every country including Ghana.
He made this statement at the Central Regional Coordinating Council in Cape Coast following an embarked nationwide e-mobility regional consultative meeting.
The consultative meeting seizes to seek the divergent views of respective stakeholders across the nation prior to the government's ideology to introduce electronic cars into the country, having visited thirteen (13) regional capitals for extensive deliberations over the technological invention into Ghana.
Hon. Krapa elaborated that the introduction of electronic vehicles in place of internal combustion engines seems to provide that long term answer to the country's transportation challenge been confronted with going forward.
He further marked out government's committed effort in making the country a net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emission by 2070, through which the Ministry of Energy has collaborated with the Energy Commission on a drive energy initiative to promote alternative and effective means on the use of electricity in achieving that feet.
Hon. Justina Marigold Assan, the Central Regional Minister eulogized the initiative to be of humongous benefit to the region in creating more job opportunities for its indigenes.
The Regional Minister having had the Central Region identified with vast lithium mineral with the Atlantic Lithium Company on board, required that the establishment of an engine factory in the region following the implementation of the e-mobility initiative will be highly essential as its soon to be extracted lithium will be needed in the manufacturing of these electronic car engines.
Chairman for the Garages Association in Cape Coast, Mr. Patrick Kojo Adu Donkor also appealed to the government on its electronic car introduction into the country to have the Garages Association, particularly its Cape Coast branch be offered intensive training on the manufacturing of the electronic cars in other not to have those with technical skill be sidelined as they often experience.
